The 23 year former Nyasa Big Bullets forward has started his career with Bidvest Wits on a very high note and his contributions over the weekend during the MTN8 semi-final did not go unnoticed.

Gabadinho Mhango had a goal and an assist during Wits’ 3-0 defeat of Cape Town City and picked up his second man of the match award within a space of two weeks.

Now, one of South Africa’s biggest Soccer magazine, Soccer Laduma, conducted a poll on their website to find three best performers in all leagues across the globe.

During the polls, Mhango was named player of the week alongside Manchester City’s Belgium winger Kelvin De Bruyne and Atletico Madrid’s French forward Antoine Griezmann, who also won the golden boot at the Euro 2016.

De Bruyne scored the opener for Manchester City in a 2-1 win over rials Manchester United over the weekend.

Griezmann scored twice and set up another to jump start Atlético Madrid’s league title challenge, as they won 4-0 against Celta Vigo.

Immediately after the results were out, Mhango took to his official Facebook page to thank his fans for their support.

“Look at God. Thank you all for the support,” he posted on his Facebook page.

On Saturday after collecting the award, Mhango said: “I want to thank God and the technical panel at Bidvest Wits. We told ourselves to score first and then defend. I am enjoying my life here.”
