Kaliati: Moved from Information Ministry.

Kaliati was appointed government spokesperson in April this year but Mutharika has already seen enough and has given her the newly created Ministry of Civic Education, Culture, and Community Development.

At her former ministry, Kaliati has been replaced by Malison Ndau who has been moved from the Ministry of Transport and Public Works which is now headed by Jappie Mhango.

Mhango was the Minister of Home Affairs and Internal Security, a role that has been taken by Grace Chiumia who headed the now split Ministry of Sports and Culture.

The culture department has been attached to Kaliati’s ministry while the sports part has been added to the ministry of Labour, Youth, and Manpower Development which is now called Ministry of Labour, Youth, Sports and Manpower development and is headed by Henry Mussa.

Over the past months, opposition People’s Party (PP) legislator Kamlepo Kalua had been calling on the president to fire ministers believed to have looted government funds.

However, despite the requests, no minister has been fired from cabinet.

Mutharika has always claimed that the cashgate audit report which Kalua based his demands on did not implicate any of his ministers.
