MIJ students visited patients at Bwaila hospital.

According to Chairperson of the club Treasure Mwandira, they targeted women in Labour Ward after realising that the women have insufficient resources due to overstaying in the hospital.

Mwandira added that besides media training, Journalism students have to be responsible enough in assisting the needy.

Appreciating the programme, Matron of Bwaila hospital labour ward who is also a nurse and midwife technician Charity Chinjoka said many lives of pregnant women will change if other students will follow the footsteps of the club.

“There are minimal resources including food in this labour ward and this is a serious problem that claims many lives and has to be taken into consideration as soon as possible,” Said Chinjoka.

Items which the students donated include soap, milk, and cooking oil.
