A road accident has claimed the life of a football player while three others have suffered injuries in Nkhotakota district.
Nkhotakota Police Public Relations Officer Sub Inspector Williams Kaponda has identified the deceased football player as 21 year-old Vuto Kaziputa and the injured ones as Rhoda Mazulu, Chipiliro Stanley and Marko Kaziputa who are all aged 21.
The football players boarded a canter registration number LA 6710 that was being driven by Manuwelo Masina and they were on their way to Mwansambo to participate in a trophy.
When they reached Kajaliza area the driver was negotiating a corner, as a result the players lost balance and they fell off the back of the truck.
Kaziputa died on the spot due to internal bleeding while the other three sustained minor injuries,” Kaponda said.
The deceased hailed from Chilupula village, Traditional Authority Mwadzama in Nkhotakota district.
