The Football Association of Malawi (FAM) and Carlsberg Malawi Limited have announced that the final of the 2016 edition of Carlsberg Cup will be hosted at Blantyre’s Kamuzu Stadium.
Initially, the final was supposed to be played at Mzuzu Stadium but the pitch is in a bad shape hence the decision to have the match shifted to Kamuzu Stadium on 10th September.
Carlsberg Malawi Senior Brands Manager Twikale Chirwa confirmed the development to the media during the presentation of uniforms to the semi-finalists.
“Let me take this opportunity to reveal that this year’s Carlsberg Cup final will take place at Kamuzu Stadium on 10th September 2016.
“Due to our rotation policy, we wanted the final to be played at Mzuzu Stadium but the pitch is in a very bad state so we cannot host a final in Mzuzu,” he said.
It will be the second time in two years for the Carlsberg Cup final to be hosted at Kamuzu Stadium.
Be Forward Wanderers, Mangochi Police, Mafco FC and Silver Strikers are the remaining four teams who will battle it out for a place in the final over the weekend.
