Malawi Police officers in Kasungu district are keeping in custody a 26 year-old woman who was found in possession of three bags of cannabis sativa which is locally known as Indian hemp.
Deputy Public Relations Officer for Kasungu Police Harry Namwaza identified the suspect as Agness Chisale.
He said Chisale was arrested on Friday 19 August at Chisazima Roadblock by police officers who were on duty that day.
Meanwhile the seized bags of Indian hemp will be taken to Chitedze Research for analysis and when tests confirm that the herb is the illegal drug, the woman will appear in court to answer charges of being found in possession of Indian hemp.
Agness Chisale comes Kantchere village, traditional authority Kayembe in Dowa district.
