Zambia’s President-elect Edgar Lungu will be inaugurated next Tuesday, Secretary to the Cabinet Roland Msiska has announced.
Dr Msiska said in a statement yesterday thatthe ceremony will be held at the National Heroes Stadium in Lusaka where preparations have advanced.
The inauguration will be held under provisions of Article 105 of the Constitution Amendment Act Number 2 of 2016.
According to the constitutional provisions, the President-elect shall assume office after being sworn in by the Chief Justice or in the absence of the Chief Justice the Deputy Chief Justice.
“The constitution further stipulates that the President-elect shall be sworn into office on the Tuesday following the seventh day after the date of the declaration of the presidential election results.
President Lungu of the PF was declared winner of the August 11 general elections after polling 1,860,887 votes, which gave him a 50.4 percent win.-Zambia Daily Mail.
