Silver Strikers versatile midfielder Thuso Paipi has been a constant figure in the Central Bankers’ line-up since joining them on loan from Wizards FC.

He has now been rewarded with a place in Nsanzurwimo Ramadhan’s 27-man preliminary squad for Malawi’s formality 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier  against Swaziland on September 3 at Kamuzu Stadium.

Apart from Paipi, Ramadhan has also given in form Silver Strikers midfielder Matthews Sibale and Blue Eagles’ duo of Maxwell Salambula and Gilbert Chirwa their first national team call up.

Defenders Lucky Malata and Steve Chagoma who last featured for the Flames in September last year have been recalled for Ramadhan’s first Flames squad.

Also returning to the squad are Robert Ng’ambi and Chimango Kayira who fell out of favour with fired Ernest Mtawali.

Among the strikers, Moyale Barracks forward Gasten Simkonda has returned to the squad for the first time since September last year but surprisingly, in-form hot striker Richard Mbulu who is the current joint top goal scorer in the Super League is missing on the list.

After missing out on Cosafa Senior Challenge Cup in Namibia last month due to disciplinary issues, Micium Mhone has been included on the list, with Ramadhan saying the team needs him most.

However, former Flames Captain Joseph Kamwendo has been left out of the squad. Newly signed Bloemfontein Celtic forward Atusaye Nyondo is also missing on the list after picking up a knock during his side’s pre-season friendly matches.
