Malawi Blood TransfusionThe Malawi Blood Transfusion Services (MBTS) has expressed frustration over the low number of people donating blood in the country.

MBTS senior public relations officer assistant Upile Kaivi who was speaking when a Blantyre youth group donated blood said since last year up to date the body has failed to collect the needed quantity of blood.

She then called on people in the country to take part in blood donation with the aim of rescuing lives of people who need blood.

“First of all am asking Malawians to take part in donating blood to save lives and an example is the Malawi club 25, a group of young people who are dedicated to blood donation in the country,” said Kaivi.

She added that donating blood is a matter of helping those who are stranded and struggling for life in hospitals due to loss of blood.
