His side swept aside Be Forward Wanderers 4-2 at Kamuzu Stadium in a league match on Sunday to finish the first round on 5th position with 27 points.
Mzuni FC coach Alex Ngwira has hailed his boys for the gallant fight they showed in the first round of the Super League which has seen the Green Intellectuals finishing just five points behind league leaders Blue Eagles FC.
Speaking in the aftermath of his team’s victory, Ngwira said he is very impressed with his players’ first round performance in the league.
“I must salute my players for the gallant fight they showed in the first round. By beating Wanderers with such margin, it’s clear that we have a very good squad capable of performing wonders in the top flight.”
“Last season, we had some difficulties because it was a new team but now that we have settled down, we are very optimistic of maintaining this form in the second round and we will not relax,” he said.
The Green Intellectuals produced one of their best performances this season by thumping Wanderers at their own backyard.
Last season, Mzuni thumped the Nomads 3-nil at Mzuzu Stadium, becoming the first side to score more than the said goals past Wanderers in a single game.
