Blood game: FAM cancels Mafco vs Bullets clash over security issues

It all started on Friday afternoon when suspected Mafco players manhandled three Nyasa Big Bullets players when they wanted to feel the Chitowe pitch ahead of a Carlsberg Cup encounter on Saturday afternoon.

This did not go well with Mafco players who told their opponents that Chitowe Stadium was their venue and that no any other team will be allowed to train in their presence.

Bullets players stood firm by remaining inside the pitch and this made Mafco players and officials very angry to the extent of starting a fight which resulted into injuries to three Bullets players namely Fischer Kondowe, Chimwemwe Kumkwawa and Aimable Niikiza.

The development irked Bullets executive committee who told the Football Association of Malawi (FAM) that they will not play the match even if they are forced to do.

General Secretary for the club Kelvin Moyo told various media outlets that the situation at Chitowe was very unfortunate and that they would not dare to go ahead with the game yet some of their players have been seriously injured by the Salima based Soldiers.

Hours later, FAM just confirmed that the game will not take place for security reasons.

According to information sourced by this publication, the FA has decided to shift the game to Wednesday for security reasons.

Efforts to speak to Mafco’s official proved futile as their cell phone lines went anunswered.

    3. @ Isaac I’m at Chitowe not from the bush, as per FAM regulations a visiting must feel the pitch 24hrs before the game and they havebto use full ground, but Marco bared Nyasa and entered into the same pitch and divided the ground that’s not acceptable and its them who man handled Bullets players after crossing the other half of the pitch. Look the set up which led to confrontation! Pena we need yo obey rules of the game!
