Flames go up with 6 steps on FIFA rankings

The Malawi National football team, the Flames have gone up with six steps on the global football rankings released by FIFA.

The Flames are now on position 127 in the world from 133 last month.

The team had slipped with up to 26 steps last month and this time around it looks like a whole lot of an achievement.

The are 38th in the African Continent from 32nd last month.

The Flames exited the Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers last month when they fell out to Zimbabwe in Harare before heading to minute performance at the Cosafa tourney in Namibia.

On the continent  Algeria comes top (32nd) , while 35th-placed Ghana replaces Cote d’Ivoire (36th) in the second place. Senegal (41st) and Egypt (43rd) occupy the fourth and fifth places respectively.

Globally, the top five nations remain unchanged with Argentina, Belgium, Colombia, Germany, and Chile taking the top 5 in that order.

Democratic People’s Republic of Korea is the best climber for the month, improved by 18 places to 99th while Cuba is the worst mover, having dropped by 30 places to 151st.
