Justice Lloyd Muhara appointed as Deputy Chief Secretary to the Government

Malawi President Peter Mutharika has appointed Justice Lloyd Muhara as Deputy Chief Secretary to the Government, officials have confirmed.

A statement from the State House indicates that the appointment is with immediate effect.

”The President of the Republic of Malawi, His Excellency Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by the Constitution of the Republic of Malawi and the Public Service Act, has appointed Justice Lloyd Muhara as Deputy Chief Secretary to the Government.” reads a depict of the statement signed by George C. Mkondiwa, Chief Secretary to the Government.

In 2014, Muhara, a former commissioner general of the Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA), was sworn in as a High Court judge.

He made headlines in the same year when he recused himself from the shooting case of former Budget Director Paul Mphwiyo.
