Malawi Police officers strike again: Arrest 13 in sweeping exercise

Malawi Police officers in Limbe, Blantyre have arrested 13 suspects in an operation which was conducted on Monday, Malawi24 has learnt.

According to assistant Public Relations Officer Widson Nhlane, some of the arrested suspects were on their wanted list for committing various crimes.

Nhlane said the suspects have been charged with offences such as theft, robbery and theft by trick.

“We have indeed arrested 13 suspects in an operation which was conducted on 8 August 2016,” said Nhlane.

He added that suspects who will answer robbery charges are Christopher Malopo aged 32 and Chipiliro Mdala aged 27.

Townships under Limbe Police jurisdiction are Mpingwe, Makhetha, Chigumula, and Limbe market, Namiyango, Kachere and Chinyonga.

Meanwhile, the police have thanked members of the community for their cordial working relationship which has helped to fight crime.

Malopo hails from Namakango village T/A Mponda in Mangochi whille Mdala comes from Lirangwe village in Blantyre.
