A Blantyre based youth group known as BYG has organised a campaign for young people from the city and surrounding areas to clean Blantyre market.
The event, according to the Chairman of the grouping Billy Makombola will take place on Saturday, 6th of August 2016 from 6am to 8am.
Makombola said the grouping is a not-for-profit youth group registered with the registrar of youth organisations and they are working in several areas such as human rights, gender equality, environmental conservation, eduction and health.
He said as a group their aim in cleaning the city’s market is to complement government’s efforts and the city of Blantyre in making sure that the city is clean and green.
Speaking on the same, Publicity Secretary for the group Denilson Chimwala said this is a time young people in this country should wake up and break the silence by engaging themselves in volunteer work to help in developing their communities.
The event according to Chimwala has been financed by the members through their monthly contributions and with help of one well-wisher who is also a trustee for the group.
Chimwala has since called on all young people from the city of Blantyre to join them on Saturday as they will be converging at Blantyre market.
Kumbukan Namanja is the trustee of the grouping.
