…signs a three-year pre-contract deal with FAM

The Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has officially signed a three-year pre-contract agreement for sponsorship with FDH Bank worthy K30 million per annum.

There were wild celebrations in the corridors of Mpira Village in Chiwembe when FDH Bank through their Managing Director Eric Outtara made the announcement in front of the FA President Walter Nyamilandu.

According to Outtarra, his bank will pump in K90 million in the next three years, renewable. “FDH Bank is pleased to partner with the Football Association of Malawi (FAM) in bringing the beautiful game of football to Malawians.

Today, on behalf of FDH Bank, we are proud to announce that we have agreed to sponsor the Football Association of Malawi.

The discussions have been going on for a few week now and we believe time is ripe for us to come out publicly with this good news.

The value of the sponsorship is K30 million per annum, for the next 3 years, renewable,” he said.

He also added that the sponsorship package will help in the improvement of the game in Malawi.

He gave an example of Ivory Coast, his native country, that it has managed to participate in the last three world cups because of financial resources.

“We believe that the sponsorship will help in the improvement of the standards of football in Malawi. The sponsorship package will bring some motivation to those people who are at the centre of the game-our players. By the end of this, we want to see our National team performing well at international level,” he concluded.

On his part, the FA President hailed FDH for the timely financial support saying FAM pockets were completely dry and had nowhere to go. “Our budget was reduced from K100 million to K32 million and we exhausted every penny in our coughers.

Today, we have received this package from FDH and we are very greatful for this gesture. We had nowhere to go to but with this, our last Afcon match against Swaziland at home will surely take place so thank you very much FDH for this financial support,” he said.

The official signing ceremony between the two parties will take place in the next few weeks.
