Junior Flames give away lead to fall to Namibia

The Malawi National football team Under-17 side lost 5-6 on post match penalties to Namibia in the semifinals of the Cosafa tournament on Friday.

Both sides had battled out to a 1-1 draw with Elderly Morgan cancelling out Peter Banda 51st minute strike with two minutes to play to send the match the spot-kicks.

An ensuing tense shoot outs saw both sides score their first five attempts with Malawi missing their sixth to bow out.

Namibia will now battle for the ultimate glory against Republic of South Africa, who thrashed Kenya in the first semifinals tie, for the first  finals berth.

Kenya’s Harambee Stars  made it to the last four following group rivals, Zambia elimination  from the  championship.

The Malawi junior side will then have to play Kenya for a third place finish battle.
