Nyasa Big Bullets defender Sankhani Mkandawire and goalkeeper Owen Chaima will be leaving the country to try their luck with Kinnah Phiri’s Tanzanian side Mbeya FC, Malawi24 can reveal.
The two played in Bullets’ 2-1 win over Silver Strikers today.
According to information sourced by this publication, the deal has been facilitated by Malawi and Bullets’ former coach who is in charge of the club that finished 8th in the just ended season.
As the market is open in Tanzania, clubs are busy recruiting players, with Phiri indicating earlier on that he is interested in Malawian players especially a defender and a shot-stopper.
Some months ago, the Tanzanian side was interested in acquiring the services of Silver Strikers goal custodian Brighton Munthali but opted to go for Chaima despite being on a long term contract with the peoples team.
If all goes well for the duo, Bullets is expected to cash in on them as they have running contracts with the Malawi champions.
Mkandawire just returned to action from his lengthy injury and cemented his place in Bullets’ first 11 following John Lanjesi’s injury.
