South Africa based footballer Gabadinho Mhango has slammed the police for being cruel when dealing with Chancellor College students during the recent demonstrations at the college.

This is coming at a time when a video showing a police officer slapping two Chancellor College students has gone viral.

The Malawi international who plays for Golden Arrows posted the video on Instagram and captioned it with a message condemning police brutality.

He said: “Ndife amodzi. Mwana amafunika kumukonza mwachikondi osati nkhanza. Violence and brutality is a weakness but courage for negotiation and dialogue is maturity.”

Recently, human rights activist Rafiq Hajat who is also Executive Director of Institute of Policy for Interaction (IPI) slammed the police for their conduct saying time for police brutality is over.

“I think the days of police brutality are over and time to be accountability has come,” said Hajat.

He added that in United States of America police were caught on camera shooting black people and it’s not a good thing to see it in Malawi.

The hike of fee at unima means more salaries for those council staff, more salaries for lecturers, buying VX and 2016 model Fortuners, Mercs , maybe a Boughatti or Rolls Royce and othr benefits e.g holidays abroad, MASM VVIP class, free education for their children and we carry the burden to pay for that education, free electricity, free water, dstv subscription and other senseless benefits…the hike will never improve quality of education at all. We see these things in our colleges where lecturers compete in buying latest cars and building mansions. This NONSENSE of fee hike MUST STOP….we say #FEESMUSTFALLNOW
