The opposition People’s Party (PP) has fired Member of Parliament (MP) for Zomba Ntonya Patrick Makina on disciplinary grounds.

Confirming the development to this publication, PP publicist Ken Msonda said the party worries nothing and will lose nothing by firing the Member of Parliament.

“Now I can confirm that PP has fired Zomba Ntonya constituency Member of Parliament Patrick Makina on disciplinary grounds, Makina is no longer member of PP,” said Msonda.

Msonda added that the party wants to remain with people who are committed to abide by the party’s rules than keeping members who could just bring more challenges in the party.

He said all the PP cares about is building the party and claimed that it is not worried that it has lost several senior members since the 2014 tripartite elections.

People’s Party district and constituency committees in Zomba had been asking their party to fire Makina for dumping the party and working with the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP).

This is coming at a time when several parties in the country are also grappling with in-house wrangles with DPP reported to have planned to fire Bon Kalindo for going against the party’s wishes while Malawi Congress Party (MCP) chased away Jessie Kabwila and Felix Jumbe from a rally in Salima.
