He is not the unlikely hero now, and the military side knows who to bank on their trust upfront. They place it all on Richard Mbulu who bagged a brace as MAFCO beat rookies Karonga United 5-0 at Mzuzu stadium on Sunday.

Yohane Malunga, Saidi Mtekama and Joseph Donsa also added the icing on the cake for MAFCO.

Mbulu scored in the 24th minute before Malunga netted his goal just four minutes later and this time around Karonga United were already shown what the Salima based side had in stock for them.

You just cant see me: Richard Mbulu MAFCO’s hero this campaign.

With just three minutes left to the end of the first half, MAFCO scored their third through Mtekama before Dosa completed the half with his goal. The first half ended 4-0 to MAFCO.

Mbulu then scored his second on the day just after the stroke of the hour mark .

Mbulu’s brace pushed his tally to 8 making him the current leading goal scorer in the top tier.

He has 8 goals leading the scorers list this time around. He is seconded by Mannaseh Chiyesa of Kamuzu Barracks who has 7 goals to his credit with Kuda Muyaba of Moyale Barracks, Peter Wadabwa of Be Forward Wanderers and Chiukepo Msowoya of Nyasa Big Bullets all tied at 6 goals.

222 goals have been scored thus far.

Karonga United mentor Kondwani Mwalweni could not just hold it but blame his players for lacking the fighting spirit in the match.

MAFCO’s David Gulaimfa hailed his charges for a wonderful display and indicated the team eyes first position at the end of the first round.

The result moved MAFCO to 3rd position with 22 points from 12 games just three behind leaders Blue Eagles and a point behind second placed Silver Strikers.

For Karonga, the celebrations of beating Nyasa Big Bullets a week ago were put to a halt and they have now been left on 15 with just 6 points from a whole lot of 12 games.
