Days after Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) summoned Member of Parliament (MP) for Mulanje South Bon Kalindo popularly known as Winiko following his semi-nude parade, the legislator has stepped down as deputy spokesperson of the party.
Kalindo was earlier this week summoned to a disciplinary meeting with DPP officials to iron out issues that emerged due to the parade he held some weeks ago.
After the meeting the lawmaker declared that all was well, but he has now stepped down from his position in the party saying he he wants to concentrate on his private issues.
“I have issues that am doing, firstly am doing my studies, and am shooting a movie, and a movie needs great attention that is why I want to take away some things on my schedule,” said Kalindo.
But he was quick to mention that his stepping down is not connected to the meeting he had with the party officials.
“Those things we discussed and they were ironed out as a family we are on the same page,” added Kalindo.
The parliamentarian recently claimed that the party was trying to kill him after he was chased away from a rally held in Mulanje for staging a semi-nude protest against killings of people with albinism. Meanwhile DPP officials are yet to comment on the development.
