DPP silences Winiko

The Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has silenced Mulanje South parliamentarian Bon Kalindo after the party summoned him on Tuesday afternoon.

The parliamentarian recently claimed that the party was trying to kill him after was chased away from a rally held in Mulanje for staging a semi-nude protest against killings of people with albinism.

But following a meeting with DPP top brass on Tuesday, Kalindo better known as Winiko said he is now a free man since he is on the same page with the party.

He also suggested that his position in the ruling party is safe.

“My position is also cleared within the party. All the differences have been ironed out, thanks to these discussions,” said Kalindo.

The party’s spokesperson Francis Kasaila said the main issue at the meeting was Kalindo’s claims that the party wanted him dead, not his role in the demonstrations.

He added that the DPP upholds every member’s right to hold demonstrations but was shocked by Kalindo’s claim that the party was planning to kill him hence the decision to summon him.

    9. Good people, lets be honest with our thinking and our conclusions. Bon Kalindo was not wrong to demonstrate and DPP as a party had no issues with his demonstrations. But the last straw that broke the camels back ( chatsitsa dzaye kuti njobvu ithyoke nyanga) is his speech , his careless speaking during “Tiuzeni zoona” program. He castigated, undermined and tore into pieces the leadership of this country. For some one who is a DPP also needed to be disciplined. If he had issues with the leader ship he would have made an appointment and voice his concerns instead of airing it on Zodiak Radio. On the other hand DPP is a generous party because what Kalindo did would have resulted into him being suspended or expelled from the party.
