A strange disease has forced St Luke’s college of Nursing and Midwifery management to close the institution, Malawi24 can report.

According to information sourced by this publication, the disease has symptoms similar to those of Malaria.

But speaking to Malawi24 on condition of anonymity, a student at the college said those who are affected have not tested positive for Malaria.

“It’s not Malaria though the signs might be similar, because most of the patients have been showing Malaria signs but they have tested negative. We are yet to know the disease,” said the student.

St Luke’s college of nursing Principal Maxwell Pangani said health experts from Zomba hospital are currently looking into the matter.

The outbreak has since spread to education institutions sharing boundaries with the college.

The District Health Office for Zomba has disclosed that the disease might be Typhoid fever but said they are waiting for an official report from the hospital.

  10. If it was in America and other developed countries, the college wouldn’t have been closed but work on a strange disease and study it wisely. Health colleges must work towards new diseases. The problem can easily be sought out by these nurses to overhaul the disease and come out with measures. These are soldiers of diseases.

  11. It’s a nursing school not a lab school guys. Umbuli suzatha. How can a nurse diagnose a disease just by looking at it? Mmmmmhhh a Malawi ngati simutha kuganiza just be queit. Nurses are just taught how to take care of people and not kuunika matenda.

    1. Sakuziwa tawauze kuti Ikufunika ndu squad ya Biomedical Technians ayeze akaziwa atumize kwa Dr aone kuti apanga bwanji then Nurses asamalile ndikuonesesa kuti odwalayo akumwadi ndi kusatila ndondomeko zoyenela

    2. At a certain level of Nursing pple can diagnose! This issue even Lab technicians have failed to establish the cause. Musanamize anthu mukuona ngat zamasewera eti. After all who is Lab tech? Nonse mbuzi

    3. I can see that. But take in mind it’s a nursing school and kuonjezelapo apo they are nurse midwife technicians students who don’t have any experience at all. Shame
