Big Bullets Team Manager Raheem Ishmael says his side would have loved to play cross-town rivals Mighty Wanderers in the 2016 Presidential Cup final instead of Moyale Barracks.

Bullets thumped Mafco FC 3-0 courtesy of Mike Mkwate’s brace and a lone strike from Henry Kabichi to set up a cup final showdown with the Mzuzu based Soldiers whom they also met in the 2012 final in which Bullets triumphed 1-0 to clinch the cup courtesy of a third minute strike from Gabadinho Mhango.

After the final whistle at Kamuzu Stadium on Saturday, Ishmael told reporters that his side would have loved a Blantyre derby cup final in Lilongwe.

“It’s a pity that they didn’t make it but we badly wanted to play them in the final. They won Carlsberg Cup last year after beating us 2-1 and now we wanted to avenge that defeat by beating them in the Presidential Cup final,” he said.

Wanderers lost 1-0 to the Soldiers courtesy of a first half strike from Khuda Muyaba at Mzuzu Stadium. This year’s final will be played at Civo Stadium on 16th July.
