Police net three for robbery

Police in Blantyre city have arrested three men suspected to have stolen K10, 000 from two people at Chemusa Township.

The suspects, Moses Phiri, 17, Hassan Adam, 19, and Christopher Chafulumira aged 19 robbed the two men as they were waiting for their relation at a bus stop.

Confirming to Malawi24, Blantyre police Assistant spokesperson Andrew Mayawo said the victims reported the matter to Kabula police.

Arrested“In response to the complaint, Kabula Police started patrolling around Chemusa until at around 04:00 am when the officers came across the three rogues whom after being searched were found with the stolen money.

“The three were successfully identified by the complainants when contacted for identification and the suspects admitted to the charge,” said Mayawo.

The suspects are yet to appear in court to answer charges of robbery with violence contrary to section 301 of the penal code.

Phiri comes from Kawiriza village, Traditional Authority (TA) Nthache in Mwanza district while Adam and Chafulumira hail from Musamagasa village, T/A Machinjiri in Blantyre.
