A local mobile operator, Airtel Malawi has applauded its mobile commerce solution, Airtel Money following positive strides that have been made in the country courtesy of the service.
Speaking to the local press, Airtel money’s country director Francis Matseketsa said the service has achieved a lot since it was established.
“Right now we have over 9 thousand agents across the country, serving a population of over 5 million people and we hope the numbers are to increase,” said Matseketsa.
Matseketsa said the company looks forward to seeing the service help a lot of Malawians in transactions of money within the country.
Established on February 29, 2012, Airtel money was the first mobile commerce solution on the land, a service that was made to be used for sending and keeping money among Airtel customers.
Over the years, the service has been seen growing its operations as now people use it to pay bills and sending money across borders.
