Trouble at Bullets! : Players planning a boycott

Despite clinching a five-year multi-million sponsorship deal with Nyasa Manufacturing Company (NMC) this year, things are not looking good for Big Bullets following reports that players have threatened to boycott games if they are not paid their signing on money.

According to information made available to Malawi24, Bullets players have told club chairman Sam Chilunga to sort out their signing on fees before 30th June.

It has been reported that Chilunga and his fellow executive committee members received a letter from the players on Tuesday, just days before the club go to the Northern Region for their Presidential Cup and Super League matches against Kabwafu FC and Karonga United respectively.

One of Bullets’ officials who opted for anonymity confirmed the development saying players have demanded for the release of their monies this month.

“Yes it’s true. We got the letter yesterday saying by 30 June, their signing on fees should be settled or they will start boycotting matches,” he said.

Malawi24 understands that Bullets FC owe the players more than K45 million in total but half of the team’s allocation from K100 million has already been squandered.

However, efforts to speak to Chilunga proved futile as his phone went unanswered.

Bullets clinched a five-year sponsorship deal worth K0.5 billion with NMC after a decade without sponsors.
