Despite struggling to beat MTV Maxi Bullets on Wednesday afternoon in the quarter-finals of the Presidential Cup, Mighty Be Forward Wanderers head coach Eddington Ng’onamo says his side will clinch the cup.
Speaking in the aftermath of their 2-1 victory over the rookies, Ng’onamo told Malawi24 that Wanderers will clinch the cup without any doubt.
“We are cup specialists and everybody knows that. We are winning this cup without any doubt.”
“Ofcourse we struggled to beat them because they are also a good side and had vowed to beat us no wonder the game was too stiff but we are very sure of winning the cup this year. We must clinch the cup at any cost,” he said.
Isaac Kaliyati gave the Nomads a 16th minute lead before Mayeso Mphanje’s leveller in the 41st minute for the rookies.
However, with few minutes to play on the clock, Max Bullet’ defender was judged to have handled the ball inside the box by referee Felix Liwonde from which Peter Wadabwa converted to send his team into the semis where they will play Moyale Barracks next week.
The last time Wanderers won the cup was in 2009 courtesy of Anthony Banda’s header in the additional minutes against Mafco FC at Kamuzu Stadium.
