Tanzania beats Malawi again: Chopper made in TZ set to fly

Tanzanian President John Magufuli continues to inspire his countrymen as the East African country has started making helicopters that will take to the skies in 2018.

According to reports, a Tanzanian technical college has made a two seater chopper which is in its final stages of production and will start flying trials once granted permission by the Tanzania Civil Aviation Authority.

The programme was initiated by the Arusha Technical College, department of Mechanical and Engineering with the aim of producing choppers that will be available to Tanzanians at affordable prices.

“We are complementing President Magufuli’s industrialisation policy in pioneering the first locally made helicopters that will be available to ordinary residents at affordable prices,” explained the man behind the ATC chopper project, Engineer Abdi Mjema.

The project began two months ago but now the chassis and the airframe for the first chopper are ready, the craft is expected to be ready in three weeks’ time.

“Once we get the aviation authority approval, we shall complete the most sensitive part of the helicopter mounting the main rotor,” said the engineer.

The college says when it gets a green light from Tanzanian authorities, it will be able to manufacture 20 choppers a year.

Polytechnic is school of excellency think about your contributions. Until when should we point fingers, lets work up and rise beyond politics. Imagine our Parliment is full of people with different education background are completely failing to propel Malawi into better direction. Our we really benefiting with our education system and its products.

Lived in both countries and travel most parts of both nations,Tanzania is far ahead in so many grounds.and interesting thing Tanzania has done again few days ago is to make a deal with China about selling cassava to China which will bring them billions of shillings while leaders in Malawi are busy thinking of how they can keep on stealing tax payers money instead of creating jobs for the citizens.

  88. The chopper in the picture is not the one that is made in Tanzania. The one in Tanzania is at a chassis stage with a Vw flat engine mounted they are in the process of fixing the rotars and many other things thus they are planning to have it the air after 2years from now. The only interesting thing is that in Tanzania they have engineers in Technical Colleges while in Malawi we have form four instructors in majority and very few graduates. Much as hospitals have teaching hospitals where health workers perfect their trade technical schools should also be having commercial garages for skills improvement and generation of financial resources m
