A 37 year-old man has been found dead in Naperi River in Blantyre city, five days after he was reported missing.
The deceased, Damson Njolomole was reported to be missing by his elder brother Luke Njolomole on June 12.
Confirming to Malawi24, Blantyre police spokesperson Andrew Mayawo said the man got drunk and he failed to cross the river.
Postmortem from Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital (QECH) revealed that the deceased died due to suffocation.
In a related development, a 64 year-old man has died in Blantyre after taking too much alcohol without having food.
The deceased, Erick Munonala, died at home after a long drinking joint in the township of Manja in the city.
According to police, the deceased’s relations told the law enforcers there was no need for a post-mortem since they knew that he died due to drinking without food.
Munomala hailed from Sumani 2 village, Traditional Authority (TA) Somba in Blantyre city.
