It had been labeled a toothless bulldog but finally the Malawi Bureau of Standards is pouncing and its wrath has met with Steers and Debonairs in Blantyre as well as Dairiboard.

According to a statement from the Malawi Bureau of Standards (MBS), it has with immediate effect suspended the operations of Steers and Debonairs and Dairiboard Malawi in Blantyre.

The two companies together with YB’s Restaurant located opposite Livingstone Tower have faced the regulator’s wrath due to continuous noncompliance to hygienic conditions.

“The Malawi Bureau of Standards (MBS) has with immediate effect suspended operations of the following companies due to continuous non-compliance to hygienic conditions as stipulated in Malawi Standard Number 21; Food and Food Processing Units – Code Of Hygienic Conditions: YB’s Restaurant opposite Livingstone Towers in Blantyre; Steers and Debonairs in Blantyre; and Dairibord Malawi opposite Kamuzu Stadium,” the bureau said in a statement.

  1. To MBS then its a long way to go! Do you do random inspection of the bottled water in shops, do you visit our major marketing places and check the balances being used? And never the rest Laboratory tests being done to our food handlers are not enough for someone to qualify and work as a food handler ,it must be reviewed.
