Old town rivals Nyasa Big Bullets and Be Forward Wanderers are set to renew their rivalry on Sunday when the two sides meet in a fundraising match to raise money for ailing Bullets goalkeeper Vincent Gona’s operation at Beit Cure International.

According to information made available to Malawi24, the two sides thought it wise to battle it out on Sunday considering the fact that they will spend weeks before playing any competitive matches since they have contributed more players to the national team.

Bullets team manager Billy Tewesa confirmed the development to this publication saying the showdown will be played at Kamuzu Stadium.

“It’s true that we will be playing Mighty Wanderers on Sunday in a fundraising match in order to raise money for Vincent Gona’s operation as well as keeping our players fit knowing that they won’t play in any competitive match till month end of June,” he said.

Commenting on behalf of the Nomads, team manager Steve Madeira said as brothers, they thought it wise to assist.

“Our brothers asked us to play a friendly match with them in order to raise funds for their shot-stoppers’ operation so we welcomed their idea,” said Madeira.

Gona’s operation will cost Bullets K3 million.

The two teams enjoy large fun base and with the current break, lot’s of fans are expected to come out in their large numbers.

This will be their third meeting this year, having played each other in the Football Association of Malawi’ (FAM) inagural Chifundo Shield Cup where Bullets won 2-nil before playing to a 1-all draw in the Super League in April.

  2. It is good to fund raise for the player Vincent Gona. I thank management of the two teams for this gesture. After this game arrange more other games to generate funds for each teams player welfare fund.
