Mtawali denies dropping Sulumba, Zonda

Flames mentor Ernest Mtawali has denied dropping Big Bullets trio of Muhamad Sulumba, Pilirani Zonda and shot-stopper Ernest Kakhobwe ahead of the Cosafa Senior Challenge Cup in Namibia slated for this weekend.

According to information made available to Malawi24, its only Micium Mhone who was dropped on disciplinary grounds and was replaced by Mighty Wanderers’s winger Isaac Kaliyati but the rest of the players have arrived safely in Namibia for the tourney.

On Tuesday, one of the Malawi’s daily papers carried a story claiming that the trio were dropped by the coach who replaced them with Blue Eagles goalkeeper John Soko, Silver Strikers goalkeeper Brighton Munthali and Kaliyati.

But according to one of the officials from the Football Association of Malawi (FAM) Gomezgani Zakazaka, the squad which was on Cosafa website was provisional and was sent to them by the FA three weeks ago.

The depleted Flames will play Angola on Sunday to kick start their campaign.
