Micium-Mhone looked disappointed when he was being substituted.

The former Blue Eagles play maker only lasted less than 20 minutes into the pitch when he came in as the second half substitute during Malawi’s 3-nil defeat to Zimbabwe on Sunday.

But when Flames Coach Enerst Mtawali substituted him for Muhamad Sulumba, Micium Mhone reacted angrily by refusing a handshake with his team-mate in front of Mtawali himself.

Mhone, whose form has deteriorated ever since he made a switch to South Africa’s Jomo Cosmos, immediately took to his Facebook wall where posted a message in a form of a poster to show his anger on Mtawali’s led Technical Panel.

His disappointment might also overflow to this Facebook post.

“They act as if they wish me well but inside their minds they are not”. “So I act like i believe them,” reacted angrily Mhone.

This is the second player from the team to have refused a handshake upon substitution, with Gabadinho Mhango doing the same a year ago under Young Chimodzi during Malawi’s 3-2 victory over Ethiopia at Kamuzu Stadium.

However, Mtawali is yet to comment on the matter.

The Flames were roasted by the Warriors to completely dash their hopes of making it to Gabon next year.

The Flames will proceed to Namibia for Cosafa Castle Senior Challenge Cup where they will play Angola in their opening game.

  1. The coach only eliminated passengers from the sinking ship and remain with engineers who could work against farther damages. To me Mtawali was 100% wright because names and professionalism is what is killing Malawi football.

  2. Mukungolakwapo apa. Boma has to blame. No commitment. No investment. Our team lacks exposure. How can a team preparing for such an encounter be denied even just a single friendly match? You expect too much from the Flames.
Coach watani? I don’t see any problem with Mtawale. Wina impaka kutchula kuti ‘aTumbukawa’. It’s nothing to do with where the coach is coming from. He is Malawian.

  6. This whole team including the technical panel must be dissolved with immidiate effect unconditionaly. Malawi must stop participating in any football tournaments on the continent until they have rebuilt a team that can represent our country without disgrace. No wonder these guys have always been crying for money…who do you think will be willing to to invest his hard earned money on a losing bunch of people who do not even care about their followers..? Koma kusuta chamba basi..! I repeat, this team and its administrators must all be sacked immidiately…. If this will not happen in the next few marked days..we, the concerned citizens of this country, will intervene. We cannot afford to be subjected to this kind of trauma anylonger.. Damm…’!

  15. Why substitute that game changer, Mecium Mhone? And the player he was substituted for (Sulumba) was far much worse than Mecium (if at all Mecium was that form). The only best best thing Sulumba did was shielding a ball against a Zim player on the touch line which the warrier chipped out for a throw to Malawi. If Mhone were maintained upto the final whistle, we would have replied those two goals we were trailing behind with. Another player worth substituting in that game was Chiukepo Msowoya (C) himself; and Wadabwa would have been thrown upfront and Gerald Phiri Jnr. brought in for the toothless Chiukepo; and Jnr playing on the left flank while Mecium playing on the right flank. Idakathera 2 all draw imene ija!

  16. How can you use someone for only 15- 20mn this shoes that they don’t have confidence and believe in you amgofuna kukutseka mmalo. Come on mtawali don’t demolish the spirit of nation players look at ng’ambi do you think he will honour your call up again shame on you strp down plz

  17. So it was his colleague who substituted him when he refused handshake? I thought it was Coach? He would have shown his disappointment by walking away straight to dressing. He wasn’t suppose to show to his colleague. He lacked discipline.Where’s proffessionalism there? In conclusion,Coach wathu ngofoira basi.
