Second half strikes from Blessings Tembo and Binwel Katinji inspired Silver Strikers to a comfortable 2 nil victory over Epac on Saturday to move top of the summit in the K90 million Super League.

The first half ended goalless with the hosts missing lots of goal scoring opportunities.

Timothy Chitedze had his shot well saved by Epac goalie before squandering another chance some few minutes later.

At the other end, Lanken Mwale saw his 33 metre drive missing the goal mouth with an inch.

Mark Fodya exchanged passes with Victor Limbani only to see his low drive well cleared by Epac defence.

Silver kept on firing blanks as they dominated the midfield but their front line were unable to put the ball into the back of the net.

Come second half, the situation changed.

Veteran Tembo gave the Bankers a well-deserved lead. The visitors outsmarted Epac in the midfield, dismantling their defence before putting the ball into the back of the net, 1-0.

Epac tried their level best to put the match level but Lucky Malata and his boys stood firm in defence to frustrate Audrey Makunyula on the technical panel for the struggling rookies.

Just when the visitors thought the match was still wide open for them despite conceding, Katinji sealed the victory for the Central Bankers with a fine strike.

Silver had some shots at goal but could not add more as Epac resolved to play in their own half in order to avoid further damage and after the end of 90 minutes, it ended 2-nil in favour of the Bankers.

The result sees Silver Strikers leapfrogging Blue Eagles in the standings with 19 points from 9 games whilst Epac are on position 8 with 7 points from 8 games.

At Civo Stadium, Kamuzu Barracks humbled Max Bullets 2-nil to move up to fifth with 13 points from 8 games.

Max Bullets remain winless in the top flight with 4 points from 9 games.
