Police in Salima district have arrested two suspects in connection to the recent brutal murder of a person with albinism in Ntcheu district.

Police have identified the suspects as Kenneth Moses Nkhoma, 27, and Herbert Maloni, 39.

The two were arrested on 1 June, 2016 at Chipoka Roadblock around 4 o’clock in the afternoon.

Albinos MalawiThe first suspect, Nkhoma, was employed by Sergeant Steven Mizere of Parachute Battalion in Salima as a shopkeeper in his shop at Kamuzu Road for a year and half. The suspect left on his own and went to his home in Ntcheu last year.

On 31 May, 2016 the suspect came back and asked Mizere if he could buy human bones. Mizere who is married to a Police officer informed his wife who later tipped off Salima Police management.

The soldier was advised to accept the deal and arrangements were made to arrest the suspect. On Wednesday Mizere in the company of his fellow soldier was provided with a civilian vehicle to meet the suspect as a Police team positioned at Chipoka Roadblock.

The suspects were arrested and were found with eight bones suspected to be of human beings. After enquiring from them, they revealed that they are the ones who killed an albino person in Ntcheu.

The suspects also mentioned other people who were involved in the act. Meanwhile, police are hunting for the remaining suspects. The arrested suspects will later be sent to Ntcheu where they will answer charges of murder.

Kenneth Moses Nkhoma and Herbert Maloni hail from Zintambira village and Chalera village respectively all under Traditional Authority Chakhumbira in Ntcheu district.

  13. the information here is not adding up, did the person claim to have albino bones? or was ready to provide albino bones if he kills one? wat was the conversation like when a boss was talking to his worker. if the worker meant that he will kill someone to have bones then it was a mistake for the boss to accept the offer. the time period need to be considered when determining the issue otherwise the boss knows something, and can give clue to where these bones goes to. the soldier must be investigated, we have to ascertain if he has gone for UN mission in DRC Or other mission . the albino killing happens in west africa for rituals we might have a missing piece for albino killers.

  17. Koma killing them before asanaulure kalikonse its nothin,, if you are following this issue it is involving a soldier whose wife is an officer in Salima, now the quest is, how can one suggest to deal such a bussiness with a soldier. I think this issue is somehow complicated.

  18. Come on people, you mean just because you want to become rich then innocent lives should be lost? This is totally barbaric and I condemn it. Why should people with albinism live in fear as if they are from other planets. Seriously, this no sense needs to stop. SAY NO TO KILLING OF PEOPLE WITH ALBINISM,.
