Blantyre residents will this weekend have a headache in making a choice as to which event to attend as the commercial capital will be conquered by mouthwatering entertainment events, thanks to music.

Malawi’s most popular city has been the hub of entertainment in the country for a long time with the other major city, Lilongwe still in the dawn of fun. This weekend, Blantyre is hosting three major music happenings.

Theo Thomson has a show this weekend.

On Friday, Lilongwe based Afro singer Lulu was launching his Mwayenera album at Comesa Hall in Blantyre.

This is his 5th studio album since he tied a knot with music, and it is full of appetising beats to satisfy listening pleasures.

The capital city based singer rose to fame more than a decade ago with his Mbambande hit. He has been artist of the people especially after switching from typical RNB to Afro style under which he has released loved songs like Mzalera, Mtima wakana, and Undidikilire. This year he has also been part of the major collaboration involving Piksy, and Tay Grin.

Fun continues on Saturday with two major phenomenons making headlines.

Theo Thompson will be launching his album titled White elephant at Robins Park in the city, while University of Malawi (Unima) Got Talent Auditions will be taking place at Polytechnic College.

White elephant comprises hit songs Maybe tomorrow and Magic. It will be launched with support from Tay Grin, Faith Mussa, and Bucci, among other supporting acts. This is Thompson’s second album after releasing Gypsy a few years ago.

Students of Polytechnic, a constituent college of Unima will be making strides to satisfy judges in the University’s talent contest.

The show has been rebranded as just a year ago it was called Chancellor College Got Talent but with the increase of participating institutions, the organisers could not help but change the name.

However, the university contest is not all about music as other talents will also be accommodated.
