President Peter Mutharika has promised Malawians that the country will be food sufficient within two to three years.
Speaking at a mass rally in Chitipa in northern Malawi, Mutharika said his government promised Malawians that no one will die of hunger and that is what has happened.
“My government promised that nobody will die of hunger and no one has died of hunger,” said Mutharika.
Mutharika then encouraged people from the north that they must not give up as light is at the end of the tunnel and government will continue carrying out developmental activities in the region.
He also said that the Northern region is not dead as it now has new developments such as the magnificent Nkhatabay Hospital, Reserve Bank of Malawi Mzuzu branch, and Bingu Highway.
Mutharika added that his government is also planning to rehabilitate the Mzuzu airport and to build another airport.
Speaking on his 2014 manifesto, Mutharika said his government has started implementing the projects he promised during campaign period such as the Malata cement subsidy program and the establishment of community colleges.

When has Muntharika realized that “ending” hunger would take 3 more years,hunger always wrecks havok mostly in the poor homesteads not in the cabinet ministers’ homes let alone President’ palace,this shows that Muntharika couldn’t confirm National hunger crisis in the first place because to his palace that isn’t a problem, what a “pathetic” man this ‘man’ is! Has he been waiting for national hunger crisis evidence in this case copses or an extremely thin and malnourished citizen? This man is up to something indeed,what’s 3 years more? when the hunger crisis has already “destroyed” homes on National scale? What will 3 more years difference make? Isn’t this Presidential Myopia?
