Ian Simbota says mob justice could end attacks on albinos.

Ian Simbota, a person with albinism and working with Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) radio 2, says mob justice is the only way to tackle cases of abductions and killings of people with albinism.

Simbota aired his views amid reports that over the past two years at least 65 people with albinism have been attacked for their body parts.

When asked if he is confident with the call by state president for police to add extra gear to combat the attacks, Simbota said he is not convinced with the president’s call and he added that he does not have confidence in Malawi’s justice system.

Meanwhile, the high court in Mzuzu has banned traditional healers from operating in the country as one way of curbing attacks against people with albinism.

  1. Oooh!!! This is Ian Simbota… I didnt know, I like this guy; he is one of my best radio 2 presenters together with the noise Dictator.
Indeed this issue is affect as one of them it pains him more,.
But life imprisonment with hard labour could be more better for me.
How do you give 5-12years to somebody who has killed the other, is it appreciating them or what!….

  3. Best solution is to try them and punish them if found guilty because mob justice may result in killing some innocent people

    2. NO! That is NOT what I mean at all! But I cannot condone this so-called ‘mob justice’. Malawi is a civilised country and therefore these things should be dealt with through the courts. However, I also believe that the sentences should be very very severe.

  16. A human being is God’s creature so let God intervine for the wise solution to stop this devilish act…..Jacob 1:5

  21. Lets be serious, we proudly say Malawi is the warm heart of Africa but our fellow albino “citizens” not “refugees” are being stripped off of their right to association, life, education, e.t.c. All the government can do is to launch sensitisation campaign and assure us the police are doing all they can? The judiciary itself mocking the victims and the whole albino society by granting weakest sentences as if albino are chickens. Are we really serious? We want life imprisonment for all who are lobbing albino, never should we hear any NGO backing these stupid people. ALBINOS are people like you and me, THEY DESERVE TO LIVE!!

  22. That’s the only best reliable way we have by now if these nonsenses are to be curbed, I agree with you In.
