Head-on collision claims one life

One man has died while two other people have suffered injuries after a head-on collision near Chigumula Church in Blantyre on Wednesday.

The three victims, who were pedestrians, were hit after a VW POLO registration number BU 409 collided with a Toyota Voxy registration number KU 503.

road accident“BU 409 vehicle was heading to Bvumbwe direction from Limbe and it collided with a KU 503 which was heading Limbe direction when the driver wanted to turn to the right,” assistant public relations officer for Limbe Police Widson Nhlane said.

Due to the collision, the KU 503 swerved and hit the three pedestrians. Dominic Musasa, 27, died on the spot but the other two were referred to Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital.

One of the injured pedestrians, a woman, has been admitted since she suffered serious injuries while the other victim was treated as an outpatient.

The deceased Dominic Musasa hailed from Chikumbu village T/A Chikumbu in Mulanje district. Meanwhile, the two drivers have been detained for interrogation.
