Breaking: Workers protest at Phalombe district council

Supporting staff at Phalombe district Council are protesting against failure by the council to give them their salaries for three months, Malawi24 can report.

The workers who include, ground laborers and custom collectors, guards and cleaners.

The workers say they have not been paid  for three months and that their requests for their perks have been landing on a deaf ear in all the said months.

They also say that they have not paid their leave grants for three years.

As this post was made, the offices at the council were not occupied by any person with the workers warning top officials at the council against trying to enter the offices for work.

There are placards spread over the entrances and posted on the vehicles of the council.
