As the party continues to lose some of its vital elements, the former ruling People’s Party (PP) says it is not shaken by the move of its former national organising secretary Salim Bagus.
Bagus announced his move from PP to the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) at a DPP rally on Wednesday claiming he want to work with the government in dealing with the challenges the country is experiencing.
Contrary to what one would expect, the PP through its spokesperson, Ken Msonda, says it is not shaken that it has lost another icon.
Msonda said there is nothing to worry and added that the development only shows that the party follows democratic leadership proved by letting their members to join other parties of their choice without complaining.
“In politics, when one moves from one party to another party, there is nothing to worry because that is his/her right. But the only thing which happens and its obvious is that it only concerns us.
“The person has not broken any party’s law, he is practicing his right, so he is free to join any party. We could love to stay with him, we were working together as a family but because he has thought of moving to the other party, we wish him well,” reacted Msonda.
He added that although the party is concerned with the movement of Salim Bagus, the party knows that the most important person is the one in the village.
