Police in Nkhotakota district will today launch a ‘Stop Killing Albinos’ campaign.
According to Nkhotakota Police Station Public Relations Officer Williams Kaponda, the day will start with a solidarity walk from pa farm to Chigumula ground where the function will take place.
“Sayilota and friend (comedians), Wilz Kajoloweka, Makhanya and different choir groups from surrounding schools among others will be present on the day,” said Kaponda.

Meanwhile the Police Station is appealing to all people in the district to attend the launch of the campaign.
“Let’s all come together to stop this inhuman act of albino killings and abductions,” said Kaponda.
People with albinism are living in fear in Malawi due to an increase in killings and abductions of albinos. Some people are also tampering with the graves of people with albinism to exhume their bones with the aim of selling them.
This has made several stakeholders in the country to discuss sound ways of curbing the inhumane act.
Such stakeholders are the government institutions, Non-Governmental Organisations (NGO) and churches.

We must take action seriously on this matter
Do you discuss with criminals? Why don’t you just go straight and deal with them? If these people can manage to take someone’s life with no mercy, do you think they have time to listen to your civic educations? Please police help these albinos. They are your fellow country men and women.
