Witchdoctor arrested for failing to raise a dead girl

Police in Dowa have arrested a 29 year-old witchdoctor for failing to raise from the dead a girl who died in March this year.

According to Richard Kaponda who is Dowa police Public Relations Officer, the traditional doctor Filudi Smock tricked the Cheyo family from Kaluzi village Traditional Authority Chiwere in Dowa that he was going to raise their daughter 17 year-old Ester Cheyo  from the dead.

ArrestedThe girl died at Dowa District Hospital after suffering from general body pains.

The traditional doctor told the mother to the deceased to give him K410, 000 for him to do the job. However, after doing what he knows in his job, the girl did not come back to life.

This made the mother to report the matter to Dowa police and the suspect was arrested at Mponela Trading Centre where his business is based.

Smock will appear in court soon after investigations have been completed.

He comes from Kachepatsonga Village, Traditional Authority Msakambewa in Dowa District.

    .Is there anyone in history resurrected by sangomas despite claims?

  74. failing to raise the girl from death is not in itself a crime. However, if it can be proved that the traditional doctor collected the said money from the deceased’s parents, then a case can be persued against him basing on such facts. i hope the prosecutor will do a good job on this matter

    2. He only has a case of obtaining money by false pretense but I doubt that of raising the dead which is nearly nowhere in mw punishments code
