The Tanzanian government has sent fifteen divers to search for the bodies of twelve Malawians who died when a boat sank on Lake Malawi in the early hours of Saturday.
Speaking at the official welcoming of the fifteen divers on Tuesday, Tanzanian high commissioner Victoria Richard Mwakasege said the team has experts who have the skills to search for the bodies.
The fifteen divers are to search Lake Malawi but with limits on some areas as some points are much deeper and difficult for searching.
The twelve Malawians were sailing on Lake Malawi from Mbamba Bay in Tanzania to Nkhata Bay in Malawi using the Tanzanian boat MV Mapeza.
A Malawian official Chikumbutso Ziyaya said the Tanzanian boat had developed a fault on an outlet pump which was supposed to be draining water.
According to Ziyaya, when a rescue team arrived at the scene they found that the boat had already sunk.
The team of divers from Malawi cancelled the search as they did not find any body after searching for days.
