Despite efforts by the government, humanitarian organizations and religious groupings in condemning the attacks on people living with albinism, an albino has been found mercilessly slain in Ntcheu district this morning.
Police say the killed albino Fletcher Masina aged 38, was found without limbs.
The incident has taken place in Zintambira village in the district.
Police have since rushed to the scene according to Police Publicist Gift Matewere.
”The deceased and his wife went to their vegetable garden which about is 2km from their village. Its along Linthumbule River near Khwekhwelele, Masasa road.”
“At lunch, he told his wife to go home as he would continue with the garden work. The wife left for home. However to her surprise, her husband didn’t return home until 5pm,” said police spokesperson.
This then saw the villagers start on searching for Masina only to find him slain close to the garden without limbs.
This comes amid incessant calls by stakeholders who have joined hands in condemning the attacks.
Body parts of those with albinism are prized in black magic and witchcraft, as it is believed spells based on their body parts will bring luck, love and wealth.
