24 netted in sweeping exercise

Limbe police officers have arrested 24 suspects during a sweeping exercise the police conducted in the area.

Assistant Deputy public relations officer Widson Nhlane has confirmed the arrests to Malawi24.

PoliceNhlane said the sweeping exercise was conducted during the night of 22 May in Limbe police station’s policing area.

The police arrested the 22 suspects on various charges, including being found in possession of property suspected to have been stolen, robbery with violence, and being found in possession of cannabis sativa.

“The suspects are expected to appear in court to answer charges against them,” Nhlane said.

He added that the police will continue conducting the operations since they are bearing fruits as some criminals have already been caught while others have been sent to prison.
