The calls for President Peter Mutharika to step down over what the opposition said is ‘failure’ by the Malawi leader to rule the nation did not just die down, Uladi Mussa still maintains the president must step down.

The People’s Party (PP) stand in leader said Mutharika must step down if he does not listen to criticism and fail to follow recommendations the opposition has been making.

According to Mussa, the best the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) government could do is to ‘pack up and go’ other than rule Malawi without taking aboard advice from the opposition on stakeholders.

”The DPP should listen. Yes DPP needs to implement the recommendations that the opposition parties make and failing to this, this government should pack and go.” he said amid cheers from the opposition bloc, an atmosphere leader of opposition Lazarus Chakwera also experienced after his speech an hour before.

Mussa also took the Mutharika regime to task over failure to improve the economy, water and other key sectors of the economy, something which he said is a drawback to the economy.

He could not wind up without talking about the trendy issues involving the attacks on people living with albinism.

“DPP should pack and go if it fails to protect albinos and alternatives to good governance,” said Mussa in response to the state of the nation address Mutharika made on Friday.

According to Mussa, the fight against the attacks should involve everyone and government should lead the way while urging law enforcing agents to make sure that albinos live like any other person in Malawi.

Mussa then asked Mutharika to consult the PP if he wants his government to do away with the woes that have hit the country in recent years.

Overtime, Mutharika has maintained he can not bow down to pressure form the opposition whom he says are ‘frustrated.’
