Blue Eagles’ fine run halted!

Blue Eagles: Fine run put to an end.

A sweet revenge perhaps for Silver Strikers as they ended Blue Eagles F.C winning streak in the TNM Super league- a team that actually sent them packing in the Presidential Cup in a meed week encounter.

Silver won 2-1 over the ever shining Eagles in a showdown at Silver Stadium today.

The Central Bankers knew that a win for them against the Area 30 side would not only be a revenge but also set a record of stopping them as they have won in all the six opening matches this campaign.

And at the half hour mark the two sides had not scored yet on each other’s goals and breaking the jinx for their respective clubs was all but engulfed by poor touches upfront for their forwards.

By half time Silver scored. And it was Mathews Sibale who put the Central Bankers ahead after an outstanding passing football his fellow players on the midfield and he could not make any mistake but slot home.

Blue Eagles’ Wister Phiri had a couple of scintillating chances missed and his opposite number Thuso Paipi shared a similar bad luck stand.

The Central bankers then enjoyed the play, killing the Eagles midfiled and no wonder another gift of a goal came through Paipi. His goal came just after the stroke of the hour mark.

The Eagles pulled level through a Phiri effort and his side could just not managed to settle the affairs until full time.

The result has moved Silver to third position on the log table with 13 points while Blue Eagles despite the loss stick on position one with 18 points.

Silver has won four matches so far and two losses with one draw all but dented their opening matches.

In the other matches on Sunday, another poor display by Be Forward Wanderers earned them a goalless draw against minnows Karonga United.

Azam Tigers pilled more misery on Mzuni as they Kau Kau boys won 2-0 at Kamuzu Stadium. The students lost on Saturday to Nyasa Big Bullets at the same venue by the same margin.

Red Lions beat Dwangwa 1-0 while Wizards won 2-0 over Maxi Bullets.
